31.-Former Miss USA 2006, Tara Conner, was almost stripped of her title after it was revealed that she had problems with alcohol and drug use, while living in New York. How do you feel about that? Were you ever tempted by the whirlwind of activities and the huge change of lifestyle and exposure you lived as Miss USA…?

Temptations are everywhere, everyday.  I was disappointed that Miss Conner didn't respect the title.  So many women would have loved to have been crowned Miss USA that year.  It's an honor, and when you are crowned, you are a role model.

32.- Miss Teen South Carolina 2007, you probably are aware, became an instant celebrity after giving that “particular” if not infamous answer, during the  2007 Miss Teen USA pageant after being asked that:

“One fifth of Americans can not identify the U.S. on a map…why do you think is that..?”

What do you think about that question in particular? I am asking your opinion as a former teacher, as a journalist and as her fellow South Carolinian…

I thought it was a good question.  I felt horrible for Miss SC Teen.  She was nervous.  It proves that it's not as easy as it looks up on stage.  In my book, “Catching the Crown”, I encourage contestants to be knowledgeable of current events, but also never memorize an answer.  When the question is asked, answer honestly, and simply.  The judges, and the audience are pulling for you.  They want you to do well.  If contestants can think that way, it helps the nerves.

33.- Lets change the subject a little bit…you made a movie, with non other that, Academy Award winner, Forrest Whitaker, How about that!!!!???? Tell us about it, please.

YES!  It's my first big screen appearance.  It's expected to be released in 2008.  It's called “Winged Creatures”.  The experience was cool.  I was on set in Los Angeles for 12 hours, and was able to do a scene with Dakota Fanning.
I'm a little nervous to see it appear on screen.  Yikes.

She took part in the movie "Winged Creatures" with Forrest Whitaker and Dakota Fanning,
coming out this 2008

34.-You already won an Emmy for your work as a journalist. Are you aiming for an Oscar???

Oh No!  I am not a very good actress.  I can play an anchor or reporter, because that is what I do.  I am comfortable with that.  Ask me to cry on cue, and I'd get fired.

35.-Do you want to pursue a career in Hollywood as an actress, full time???

No.  I truly love being a journalist.

36.-What is left for you to do, that you have not accomplished?

Oh, there are many things, including climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa.  I want to travel to India.  I also want to start some sort of group that will help homeless animals.  I want to write another book, but I'm not sure on what topic yet.

37.-What do you do in your leisure time?

I play golf, and do yoga.  I love to excercise outdoors.  I really enjoy reading autobiographies and biographies.

38.-Who would you like to interview, if you had the chance to do so?

These are my choices:  Dead:  Marilyn Monroe, and Marlon Brando.  Today:  Jack Nicolson, and Jane Fonda.

39.- What touches you the most, what makes you cry or smile?

My family's undying love and support touches me the most.  Homeless animals make me cry.  I wish I could bring them all home with me.  Seeing and hearing people laugh out loud makes me smile.

40.-Finally Lu, Is there anything you would like to add or share with the fans….???

Life is a journey.  We are all traveling it together.  Why not try and make it easy for each other?   Stop judging.  Stop being mean.  Love more.  Take risks........Buy my book!  HA!

Thank you Lu for making this interview possible, We are honored you've granted it, thank you, thank you so much!
