South Africa is the most successful country of Africa in beauty pageants, it has many semi-finalist in the most important pageants and 3 international winners; 2 Miss World and 1 Miss Universe.
PENNY COELEN, MISS WORLD 1958
Pennny Coelen was South Africa’s first International Beauty Queen. She won the Miss World competition in 1958.

ANNELINE KRIEL, MISS WORLD 1974
Anneline Kriel was South Africa’s second International Beauty Queen. She was Miss World 1974's 1st. runner up, but 4 days later she became the new Miss World due the current titleholder was dethroned. (see the article)

MARGARET GARDINER – MISS UNIVERSE 1978
Margaret Gardiner was Miss South Africa in 1978 and became Miss Universe in 1978. She was South Africa’s first Miss Universe.
